Hello Bulli

Hello Bulli

It was in late 2019 when we finally made the decision to buy a VW California, after some month (years?) of thinking about it. With two kids the existing compact SUV was ok for day-to-day business, but often the packaging for the holiday or skiing trips were not so amusing anymore… And as the old car once again started to loose oil the decision was made.
Fortunately this all happened before Corona hit us; we could buy a T6 Beach from stock and even got a discount as the new model T6.1 was expected to be delivered soon. Nevertheless it also happened to us that we heard sentences like “yet another one of those Corona buses” on the campsites. 🙂 Right, we can understand anybody who made the same decision, especially during the last year. For us it gave us some freedom in a challenging time.

The big day! Picking up our new multi-purpose family car.

It took us more than half of a year until we first used the car as camping van, we (initially) thought that winter camping wouldn’t work for us. During the first year the following beautiful spots got a visit from us:

Alp Laui, Toggenburg

A beautiful spot above Unterwasser was home for our first overnight trip, unfortunately in the meantime camping is not permitted there anymore.

Murten

Still the campsites were closed, so we decided to visit the beautiful city of Murten for three days.

Neuhausen am Rheinfall

Rheinfall, for sure an impressive natural spectacle. There are officials (though quite expensive) spots for campers including toilets and showers available.

Campofelice in Tenero

More than one week of rain in sunny Ticino?? With this weather prognosis in mind a bus tent had to be quickly organized…

Locarno, Camping Delta

Nadine and I planned to visit the MoonAndStars festival, no festival but still no kids, good mood and (this time) good weather on this really nice campsite.

Crestasee, Camping Trin Mulin

An alternative, but quite cosy and clean campsite, with the bikes in no time at Crestasee.

Lenzerheide, winter camping with Nils

First winter camping, would it work? Luckily someone had to leave early the Lenzerheide campsite so there was one free spot for Nils and myself. And yes it worked out quite nicely :-).

Sedrun, Camping viva

The 2021 camping year Nadine and myself started with one night on the campsite in Sedrun. Some snowshoeing, some book reading, just relaxing…

Grimselpass area

With the plan to ski MĂ€hrenhorn, I decided to travel there the evening before so that I haven’t had to get up at 3 in the morning.

Brig, Camping Geschina

Only rain in the nothern eastern part of Switzerland, while in Wallis the weather was looking quite promising. Camping Geschina was a perfect host for our Auffahrts-trip.

Two weeks on Sardinia

Ferry ride. Empty beaches. Beautiful and clean campsites. Camping Porto Sosalinos. Camping Capo Ferrato. Treasure hunt. Cagliari.

Kaiseraugst

Another couple weekend brought Nadine and myself (close) to Basel, where we stayed on the campsite of Kaiseraugst. An ideal spot to visit Augusta Raurica and the city of Basel by bicycle.

Engelberg, Camping EienwÀldli

One of the top findings of our family for this summer, Engelberg and camping EienwÀldli. A campsite with really everything you need (there is even an indoor pool) and so much to do for the kids in Engelberg.

Locarno, Camping Delta

As the tickets for the MoonAndStars festivals were still valid, we gave it another try. Still no music in Locarno, but at least some mountain biking :-).
